7 Reasons Arts are Important

Teen Girl Painting

  1. 1.They are languages that all people speak that cut across racial, cultural, social, educational, and economic barriers and enhance cultural appreciation and awareness.
  2. 2.They provide opportunities for self-expression, bringing the inner world into the outer world of concrete reality.
  3. 3.They develop both independence and collaboration.
  4. 4.They make it possible to use personal strengths in meaningful ways and to bridge into understanding sometimes difficult abstractions through these strengths.
  5. 5.They improve academic achievement -- enhancing test scores, attitudes, social skills, critical and creative thinking.
  6. 6.They exercise and develop higher order thinking skills including analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and "problem-finding."
  7. 7.They provide the means for every student to learn.

When Someone

When someone makes you the happiest person and the saddest person at the same time, that’s when it’s real. That’s when it’s worth something.

Quotes for today

Nothing can wear you out like caring about people.

That’s the thing about friendship. It’s a lot rarer than love because there’s nothing in it for anybody.

Little souls

step over ants
put worms back in the grass
rescue baby caterpillars
release spiders back into your garden
open windows for bees to fly home
they are all little souls that deserve a life too

Thoughts at 1AM

Never thought I'd be active so late at night.

I've been in a cheerful mood lately, I'm not sure why but every negative barrier around me has broken down so there is nothing left but happiness. I am so thankful about that because God has given me strength to overcome negative energy. It's true when they say that you yourself control your happiness. No one else should make you think you don't deserve to be happy, no one. I may have had rough days since I was selected as the head Directing manager for our school's Graphic exhibition but it never really bothered to ruin my mood even though it did manage to break me down once, I got up feeling stronger, thanks to my close friends for comforting me.
It taught me that I should put aside every single negative thing and only focus on the positive. That's how it works. That is exactly what I'm doing. When you focus on everything in a positive way, your mood and the way you run your life changes. It changes in a good way and for the better I shall say.
Occasionally I would want to rant on how some people are really mean but having said that, I never forget to say the good things about them either. That's one. Other things, which may also have their flaws are things that disturb me as well but putting it aside and focusing on the good side of it changes my whole perspective and makes me feel like a better person. There will be times that I would give in but I guess that's normal considering I am only a mere human with flaws, I accept that.

Having said all of that, It's an amazing thing what little changes you do in your life are the ones that have a big impact.

Basket Cat

If you're having a bad day, just let me tell you that my cat sat in a basket that wasn't his size today for a good 10 minutes for no apparent reason. I guess he thought it was comfortable but nevertheless, here's a photo of him. His name is Mitch!
Ignore the DAD painting behind, that was part of my dad's birthday surprise.
If this cat doesn't brighten your mood a little, there's always other fun stuff to do! <3

How I feel

"Taking arts is a waste of time, It's like there's no future for people who take arts."

As a student, yes I am taking arts and having to deal with people saying negative things about what I choose, hurts.
The mentality of certain people.
Whether we want to take arts as our major, that is our problem and not YOURS. If you are so confident that whatever you're taking will get you to a better future then go ahead but never tell someone that it seems impossible for them to succeed. NEVER. Whether they take arts, science or business, never tell them negative things as if they won't succeed.

It pisses me off and hurts me when people tell me that taking arts won't really get me anywhere. Let me ask you something then. How would you know if I won't succeed? Will the course your taking now make you succeed in life as well? You don't know your future either so why judge ours?
A person may be well off taking science but that does not mean they have a brighter future. Arts may not look like much but to people like us, it means a lot and also will get us somewhere in life. You'll never know.

I'll give you one good example then. She's a person I admire the most and she's my mum. When she was about my age, she took arts as well and she succeeded in life because of it. No, she wasn't an artist but she worked in a very good place, I won't say where but the company is one of the leading companies known worldwide that represents Malaysia. I can honestly tell you that I'm not bullshitting about this sort of thing. She had a good position in her job and a good pay. She was successful.
So it comes to show that it doesn't matter what course you take, you can still succeed if you're willing to learn new things.

No one will ever stay the same

No one will ever be the same person they once were a year ago or even a day ago. People change and people leave or they may not seem as close to you. It's normal. That's what mum taught me.
We cannot expect the same people to be with us all our lives. It's sad but true but sometimes moving forward is the only way.
